About

Amanda Beaune is a violinist and educator who is driven by her community. She is equally devoted to performing traditional and contemporary music, and has found a home in both spheres. Amanda is working to elevate new music to a more familiar and accessible place for youth and her surrounding communities.

Amanda received her Master of Music in Violin Performance from Northwestern University in 2022. Her final master’s recital at Northwestern University included works by Shulamit Ran, Amy Beach, and Vijay Iyer. As a member of the University’s Contemporary Music Ensemble, she performed a variety of new works by composers such as David Lang, Natalie Joachim, Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Hans Thomalla, György Ligeti, Marcos Balter, and more. Recent projects include 'Feels Like Honey', a multi-genre collaboration with composer Hannah Boissonneault, Codex Trio, a Chicago-based new music ensemble she formed with Isidora Nojkovic and Zaira Castillo, and Locus, a Chicago artists collective. She has performed at venues throughout Chicago such as Constellation Chicago, Epiphany Center for the Arts, Harris Theater, Symphony Center, Thalia Hall, and many others.

Amanda thrives on variety, which has led her to perform in many different genres and settings. Some of her career highlights thus far have included performances with artists Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Sarah McLachlan, Johan Lenox, Johnny Mathis, and Laufey. Amanda is currently performing with several orchestras in the Midwest, including Chicago Philharmonic, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Philharmonic, Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra. She has recently been featured on the Frequency Series at Constellation Chicago, and as part of New Music Chicago's Impromptu Fest.

She is an alumni of the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Lake Tahoe Music Festival, and Northwestern Summer Violin Institute. Her solo performance highlights in recent years have included performances with the Baroque Ensemble at Northwestern under the direction of Stephen Alltop, and performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Wayne State University Orchestra.

Amanda is passionate about arts advocacy and education. She was the former Marketing Coordinator of Sound Mind Organization, a non-profit working to end the stigma of mental health in the classical music community. She is currently the Administrative Manager of the Music Conservatory of Illinois, where she also teaches private violin and piano lessons. In her free time, Amanda enjoys practicing yoga, writing, and exploring Chicago!
